2016 New year's beauty haul

Hello !

I thought I'd start this year off with a good old beauty haul post. Because what's a better way to start a new year than investing in some fresh, new beauty products? During the last few weeks I've been doing some serious makeup shopping and all the products finally arrived so I decided to have a photo shoot day and let me tell you something; I usually enjoy these small photo shoot sessions of mine, to the degree when I even look forward to them. But this time was just pure torture, lol. I have a new camera plus it's a winter time in Finland so its dark all the time and getting good pictures even in the daylight turned out to be almost impossible and on top of that I had some serious problems trying to get the focus on the right places so some of these pictures are a mess, I know.  I literally spent 5 hours on this and it was a complete failure, so apologies for the bad pictures in advance.

I also apologize for the quiet phase I've had over here for the last 2 weeks. I've had some health issues and I've been going back and forth between the doctor's office and home. I've also had some plans with my friends and family so that have kept me pretty busy. I will try to fix this and write more during the next few (and last) weeks I am here in Finland before heading back to Korea !

But without a further ado let's get to the haul !

Mary-Lou Manizer - TheBalm
Can be used as a highlighter / shimmer / eyeshadow. I've been wanting this for a while now because everyone around the internet keeps raving about it. It has this really subtle yet intense glow to it and it gives you this gorgeous finished look. Using this on a daily basis now on my cheeks, tip of my nose, cupid's bow & under eyebrows. My new Holy grail product and I can't wait to get to try out the other 2 luminizers by TheBalm.

Mineralize skinfinish bronzing powder - MAC
Just your regular bronzing powder with some light shimmer in it. Not too orange but still gives you this healthy sun-kissed glow. I use this to lightly contour my face and add some dimension & color to it.

Brilliant and spellbinding eyeshadow palette - SIGMA BEAUTY
I was originally planning to only order some brushes from Sigma but then I ran into their palettes and this really caught my eye, especially all the delicious shades of brown, and on top of that it had a 10 dollar discount at that time so I just kinda added it into my shopping cart. And I am LOVING it. The neutrals are perfect for creating a casual daily look or a darker evening makeup, and the small pops of color like the fresh pink or coral go and blend just so well together with all the other shades if you wanna create a look with some color to it. love love looove this.

NUDE'tude eyeshadow palette - TheBalm
I've been wanting this for a while too and I'm just so happy I finally got it. Sassy, Sexy & Sleek are this far my favorite colors from this palette. It comes with a small brush that's really thin and is actually really good for applying the colors on your lower lash-line or inner corner. The colors blend well together but I have noticed that compared to Sigma's palette they're not as buttery and blend-able.

Extended wear eyeliner kit - SIGMA BEAUTY
This was a free gift that came with an order higher than 100 dollars, I'm not sure if they sell these kits but they do have all of these liners and they can be bought separately. It has 3 eyeliners & a small smudging brush. The colors from left to right (swatched on my hand) are 'Declare', 'Downplay' & 'Drift'. I am honestly so in love with these eyeliners. They are soft and very creamy and can be smudged to create like this smokey - bronzy look or you can just use them on your whole lid as an eyeshadow / eyeshadow base.

Soft matte lip cream, Copehangen - NYX
This was purchased only because I've been desperately trying to find a dark purple / wine red lipstick to go with my scarf that's the same dark shade. I never buy lipsticks online because I want to see the color live and swatched on my hand first so I was pretty skeptical about this but turns out it goes perfectly with my maroon scarf! Success! It's a beautiful color and looks a bit more reddish in a darker lighting.

Real Fluid rouge lipstick, #6 Cherry tart red - Innisfree
I purchased this in December while still in Korea. It's a very intense bright red color with a slight shimmer to it. Been my go-to color this winter.

Face & Body Foundation - MAC
I have a ridiculously dry skin, especially in the winter. And even though I spend 80% of my time hydrating it I've come to realize that Korean BB-creams & foundations do not just suit my skin type. They don't stick to my face and the matte finish I look for is there for 10 minutes before the foundation literally just starts to slide off my face. So I marched into a MAC store and this is what they told me I should get. It's very lightweight, water based liquid foundation. And let me just tell you, this is it. This is the first foundation that goes perfectly with my skin tone and stays there perfectly. It doesn't look heavy, it doesn't look cakey and it's very watery so it kinda just slides on perfectly like a moisturizer and stays on place. I am so beyond happy with this product.

Mineralize skinfinish natural powder - MAC

Got this to go with my foundation and to set the base & concealer on place so anything wouldn't crease. The substance is very silky and light and it's especially designed for dry skin.

Born-to & Mellow - blushes - SIGMA BEAUTY
Two blushes from Sigma's blush collection. Born-to is a very sheer shade and can also be used as a highlighter, while Mellow is like this dark.. nude..matte berry-pink? lol ! Both very pretty!

Wicked - gel eyeliner - SIGMA BEAUTY
I've heard a lot of good about this product and I wanted to try out a gel eyeliner instead of a liquid one, so I got Sigma's product. It's said to be very easy to apply and not too sticky or hard, which I completely agree with. This is my first gel eyeliner so I can't compare it to any other products but as a girl who is used to liquid eyeliners which are obviously very easy to apply because they're, well, liquid, this one's really easy to use and it glides on effortlessly

B6 Vitamin-infused complexion prep spray - Urban Decay
Something to hydrate & prep my skin before makeup and to keep it hydrated throughout the day. I also spray this on before going to sleep after washing my face.

Sensitive after-shave balm - Nivea men

If you know Nikkietutorials or follow beauty channels on Youtube at all this product is not a surprise for you. Nikkietutorials started this hype and it's been going around for a while now. And I'm proud to inform you guys that I have jumped on that boat. This after-shave balm works perfectly under your makeup as a primer. It really makes your foundation stick to your face and stay there the whole day. And no, you do not smell like a dude the whole day. The smell disappears really quickly; when I'm done with my makeup I can't smell it at all anymore. I do recommend !

150 Large powder brush - MAC
Dense yet soft brush for dusting powder - loose or pressed - on face and body. I bought this for bronzer & powder.

Small duo fibre F55 - SIGMABEAUTY

A flat, airy brush that can be used to buff powder products onto the skin for a well-blended, light finish. I use this for blushes & highlighting.

Large angled contour F40 - SIGMABEAUTY

Perfect for contouring your face and cheeks. Soft, angled brush makes it really easy to get the color in the exact right places.

Eye shading E55 - SIGMABEAUTY
Kind of a squared, dense brush that's great for all-over application. Also good for blending colors into the crease.

Small angle E65 - SIGMABEAUTY
Very thin,  angled brush for brows or eyes. I like to use this to line my brows or when creating a bold, thick cat eyeliner.

Winged liner™ E06 - SIGMABEAUTY

A teeny tiny angled brush perfect for creating a winged eyeliner. Very precise and does a very good job whether you want that thin casual line or go for a thicker, bolder look.

Lip L05 - SIGMABEAUTY
Thin, dense lip brush. Works great with product application or lining your lips. The end is super thin so you can be very precise with this brush.

Beauty blender
Not in the picture. This has been on my to-get list for a long time already and I have been really happy with this little magical sponge. I use it with my foundation and to apply concealer under my eyes. Works like a charm and worth the somewhat high price (for a pink tiny sponge, I mean).

In addition I got a perfume I've been loving the whole 2015; Victoria's secret Noir Tease (Shown in the very first picture). My friend had it and I've been borrowing it like crazy so now I finally got it too. I could take baths in this perfume I swear.

So that's pretty much it! A good way to start 2016 if you ask me. As some of you remember one of my resolutions was to get more acquainted with beauty products and makeup and invest on beauty more; so far I think I've been doing pretty good.

xx,
Julia
