The Cafe Tag - La Eskimo

Hello!

Again. I was determined to publish this Cafe tag - post before this month ends.  Turns out this month has 31 days so I would've had the time to do this tomorrow too, but oh well. It's 1 AM and here I am anyway. Binge listening to this song.

Anyway like I mentioned in the previous post couple of hours ago I went to Gangnam today to have a what was supposed to be a study date but turned out to be a "let's finish 1 page of homework and just talk for hours" - date.

I spotted this cafe actually about 2 weeks ago while filming for the Garosu-gil nightscape post. The place is called "La Eskimo" and it's located right on the Garosu-gil street. Really easy to spot.

La Eskimo has a super unique, vintage-ish decoration. There's texts and pictures painted on the walls, they have mismatched chairs and like all these very old-looking little decorations all around the place. There's a bunch of plants too, some of them dried. The lighting was dim and they even had lights made out of shuttlecocks. It was really pretty. Exactly the type of a coffee shop I love the most. For some reason they also had like inflatable beach toys all around the cafe.... Beats me as to why, but it was still somehow weirdly charming addition to the whole messiness of the place. And I'm talking about the good-messy here right now.

Paying 4 dollars for a coffee you usually pay 2 bucks for breaks your heart though. Speaking as a student. They have all these super delicious looking cakes there too but I just settled for admiring them from behind the glass, hahah. They have a wide range of coffees, teas and juices and the prices start from 4800won and go up to 7000won (about 6-7 bucks). I ordered an ice Americano..which literally was an ice Americano with a huge pile of ice on top of the drink. My friend had a salmon bagel and it was around 8000won so I guess the prices for cakes and sandwiches start somewhere where the drink prices end. You kinda pay for the experience too, right? ...

We spent few hours studying but then we just got bored so it was more of a talking date than a studying date. I also spent a lot of time on just walking around the cafe and taking pictures (I'm sorry, people who end up in the same cafe with me, I must be so annoying).

Had to snap one more picture on my way home in the evening because the sun made the building look really nice~  All in all a very cozy place to spend your afternoon at ! I liked it. Would visit again. I want to try their food / sandwich menu too so going there for a lunch someday while wondering around Sinsa-dong would totally be a plan worth executing.

HOW TO GET THERE

OOTD: Coco made me wear floral prints

Dress & snapback - Some little shop @ Idae
Hey youuu !

Just something simple I wanted to share with you guys. I bought this really cute floral dress / shirt thing from Idae yesterday and when I got home I realized it's like made to be worn with my floral "coco make me do it" snap back - also from Idae, couple of months ago. I also wore a pair of some simple dark blue jeans under it because otherwise it would've been kinda risky, lol. I don't usually do these kind of posts but this was actually pretty fun - new and different - so might start doing more ootd - posts in the future!

Today we had a study date with couple of my school friends in Sinsa, Garosu-gil! And as you guys know I have been trying to get myself to visit more new places so we chose like the cutest (and probably the most expensive) vintage cafe and sat there for hours studying and talking (The cafe tag - post about that is gonna be up later tonight). It was really nice. I need more of days like these in my life.

Anyway! Floral prints, yay or nay? I personally think they are absolutely adorable. Totally fallen for them.

오꼬노미야끼 @ 홍대 호노 // Okonomiyaki dinner @ HONO, Hongdae

Hey Sweeties !

Today was the first day of my super short, 5-day summer vacation. It was a bit rainy yet so humid and hot that at first staying at home with our dearest friend air conditioner sounded like a really good plan, but both of us ended up doing our makeup so it felt like no use to just look pretty for ourselves, hahah.

We walked around Idae and shopped a bit (may or may not do a separate post about that later) and then moved to Hongdae to meet up with out Friend that we both haven't sat down and talked with properly for a while. Also we were craving Japanese like crazy so we ended up in this super cute, small Japanese restaurant near the subway station.

It was a bit expensive (the cheapest thing on the menu was this particular okonomiyaki - 15.000won) but it tasted so delicious it didn't take a lot of time to those both servings disappear from their plates. Some of you might know this, but I spent a year living in Osaka when I was 16, and even if it's been like 4 years since that Japan left me a pretty deep impression and it's still a huge part of me. Now that I'm in Korea I can't wait to get the chance to go back to meet my family and friends there. And thank god for all the Japanese delicious restaurants around Seoul. Should definitely visit them more often!

Tomorrow I'm planning to do some hardcore studying and blog post preparations at some classy lil cafe somewhere in Gangnam! So I'll see you guys later this week and I hope you all have a really good day / night !

June & July 15' Through my phone

1. I came back to Korea! As much as I love this country there's few absolutely irreplacable things you can't get from here - Finnish chocolate & rye bread. So I made sure to pack a bunch of those with me before hopping into a plane and coming back home! 2. Unpacking 2 huge bags was insanely tough. I'm the kinda person who unpacks even the smallest bags for about a week, lol. Managed to get this mess out of my floor in few days though.
3. Re-decorated my room! Also brought my own blanket  & some pillow covers from Finland so I cut my old blanket into pieces and made DIY- pillows out of it. It looks pretty cozy if you ask me~ A lot more homey now that I have few pillows on my bed.
4. Back to "I'm a broke af student" diet. Well to be honest I am not that broke, I manage to eat everyday and I go out with my friends few times a week, too. But most of the days I still eat pretty simple food like veggies, soups and fruits. And omelets. Omelets are go-to food forever.

1. A day after arriving back to Korea I had classes to attend to..Needless to say the first days were everything but successful. Also I found my new love, plain drinking yogurt ! It's amazing, try it.
2. & 3. Our friend Rico had her birthday so we celebrated it in this cute Caffe bene - cafe near Wangsimri station by ordering a huge strawberry bingsu (ice dessert). After that we went to Noraebang and then to eat some grilled meat and for few drinks.
4. After few months I also ended up in my favorite Dunkin' donuts - coffee shop right next to the Hongdae station again. Ordered this heavenly chicken salad & peach ice tea and studied for hours while watching people walk down on the streets. Now these are my kind of days.

1. Reunited with my friends for the first time after coming back to Korea! We had this cream pasta and a clam soup. And let me tell you - it was ah-mazing. I don't think I've ever tried clams before.. I've never been a big fan of seafood (except for sushi and squid) but I'm slowly starting to get into the whole concept of eating weird sea creatures? hahah
2. Had a nice walk around our neighborhood and the park we have right next to our house and saw those super pretty water..fountain..things for the first time in my life. I've only seen them in pictures before so I got really excited, hahah.
3. Studying date with my cute japanese friends ~ Times we spend together are always full of weird inside jokes and a mixture of speaking Korean and Japanese. I love these gals.
4. CHERRIES. One liter of cherries costs more than 10 bucks here, but the mart where we do our grocery shopping (right by our house) always gives us service when we buy stuff. The ladies working there are the sweetest ever.

1. Current obsessions - grape soda & oreos.
2. Visited a dog cafe for the first time in my life. A post about it here. This cutie totally stole my heart! Someday when I'll get a dog it will definitely be a pomeranian. It was just the tiniest thing ever and it slept on my lap so peacefully..
3. Studying... Sneakily snapped a selca during the lesson. Amusingly everyone else behind me are using their phones too.. Welcome to our school.
4. And more studying. This month has literally been all about studying. The Grazie cafe at our campus is one of the coziest places ever.

1. Met with FeelSeoul aka Wietske, one of the coolest gals who happens to go the same school with me. We had coffee and talked and chilled. We don't see each other so often but when we do, we just chat for hours.
2. I don't think I will ever get over how pretty this city is, especially in the evening. This picture is taken on the road right next to our house. Idae is such a pretty neighborhood.
3. Studying for my midterms. I spent 3 days in my favorite cafe studying from the morning until like 11pm. Kinda disappointed though cause the exams didn't go as well as I wanted them to go. I only had few mistakes but you lose like 3 points from one mistake, so the grade drops really easily. I did nail my speaking exam though!
4. On a rainy day I heard a cat cry outside so I went to look for it. It turned out to be this adorable little kitten that was stuck between like pipes and electric wires on our roof. I saved it and brought it inside, fed it some tuna and then returned it back outside in a small box and a cup of more tuna. It did bite me though so this lead into a series of hospital visits around Seoul... Still worth it. It was adorable and so tiny.

1. I started a project "let's fix my diet" about a month ago and this is pretty much what I've been living with. It costs me a lot more than buying a kimbap roll from the cafeteria at school (kimbap 3 bucks, a watermelon 10 bucks) but I am feeling so much more energetic and just better in general
2. The rainy season has started! It's been raining pretty much nonstop for the last few days. I am totally loving it because, well, rainy weather is my favorite kind of weather.
3. Wore my new H&M dress for the first time few days ago (I bought it in May and haven't worn it even once?) and I was really happy with how it looked to decided to snap a picture of it.
4. Our handsome birthday boy! Our friend Youngmin had his birthday this Friday and we went to celebrate it with our friends. Had a blast.

Till the next time!

Garosu-gil nightscape

Hey sweeties !

On Saturday I headed to Apgujeong with my friend to eat, chat and take pictures for our blogs. We ended up spending the whole time at Garosu-gil though (literally translates into "tree-lined street") which actually is in Sinsa-dong instead of Apgujeong-dong... So Garosu-gil nightscape post it is, then! Garosu-gil is definitely one of my favorite places around Seoul. It has countless cute boutiques, classy restaurants and cafes, huge fashion & beauty stores and plus the street is literally lined with trees all the way. If it looks beautiful during the day, just wait until you see it during the night! So without further ado let's get into the pictures shall we? Enjoy ~
